A-level Student Guide

A-level Student Guide

-         Blake is not praising innocence and damming experience, it is more complicated than that.
-         ‘Unorganised innocence, an impossibility’ Blake wrote in one the margins in his later poems. Innocence dwells with wisdom but never with ignorance.
-         Innocence cannot exist without experience
-         I am expected to know about Blake’s beliefs and the context of when innocence and experience were written.
Blake’s images and drawings also play a huge part in the understanding of his poetry (do not leave this out!)
